Brown sugar sweetness, clean tea-like body and soft apricot
We roast and post on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Order by 8am to catch that day's post.
Tasting notes
In the cup
Expect rich brown sugar sweetness up front, with a clean, tea-like body carrying through the cup. A hint of cola adds depth and a little sparkle, before it finishes on soft, juicy apricot.
Cherries are sorted by hand, pulped, then fermented in water for 12–48 hours to break down the sticky mucilage. The coffee is washed clean and dried on raised beds for around three weeks before heading to Kigali to be dehusked, polished and graded.
Rwamatamu is a family business set up in 2015 by husband and wife Rutaganda Gaston and Mukantwaza Laeticia. Community sits at the heart of it. In Nyamasheke they run a Women's Cooperative, buying land and providing seedlings and training so local women can grow coffee and sell it back, giving them income beyond seasonal work. In Mbare, a Youth Association helps 18–35 year olds build the skills to farm coffee for the next generation.
